Bandung, Indonesia (CNN) -- Indonesian pop star Nazril "Ariel" Ilham was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison Monday for his involvement in sex videos that authorities said featured him and two other top Indonesian celebrities.

As part of his conviction under the country's anti-pornography law, Ariel will also have to pay a $28,000 fine. Prosecutors had asked for a five-year jail sentence.

He will appeal, his lawyer said, adding that there was no clear evidence that Ariel distributed the videos.

Ariel, the frontman of the rock band "Peterpan," was the first high-profile offender of the pornography law that went into effect in 2008 and carries a maximum penalty of 12 years.

The first video surfaced on several websites last year and went viral through social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. It allegedly featured Ariel and girlfriend Luna Maya -- a model and TV journalist who interviewed Hillary Clinton on her show "Dahsyat" during the U.S. secretary of state's visit to Indonesia in 2009.

After the release of the second video allegedly featuring Ariel and Cut Tari -- a soap opera star and TV journalist -- the term "Ariel Peterporn," a spin on the singer's name and his band, became a top trending topic on Twitter.

At the time, all three celebrities publicly denied appearing in the tapes, saying the people in the footage just looked like them.

The videos sparked protests by conservative Islamic groups and others around the country condemning the celebrities.

When the district court judge read the sentence in the packed courtroom Monday, hundreds of hardliners who gathered outside the courthouse booed.

"Ariel is guilty," some chanted, as about 1,000 anti-riot police personnel stood guard.

"He should have gotten at least five years," said Chep Hernawan, head of the Alliance of Islamic Movements. "We're extremely disappointed."

Noted feminist and author Julia Suryakusuma said the protests are sending the wrong message.

"This is also sending out the message that if you're loud enough, then you'll get heard and that's not the way it should be," she said.

Later Monday, the court sentenced an employee of Peterpan's music label to two years in prison.

Prosecutors said the employee, Reza Rinaldi, was the one who uploaded the videos on the Internet.

Will Anne Hathaway Make A Good Catwoman?

With Inception behind him, Christopher Nolan and team are in preproduction for the next Batman film (called The Dark Knight Rises) and details on cast members have been released in the last few weeks.

Christian Bale and Michael Caine are returning as Bruce Wayne and Alfred, respectively. Others who are returning, not surprisingly, include Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon). It was also announced that Tom Hardy will join the cast as Bane, the venom-taking superhuman with the photographic memory.



But what got this guy’s attention was that Anne Hathaway will play the sexy Selina Kyle (aka, Catwoman). The filmography of Anne Hathaway shows her in two distinct roles. The first being the wholesome girl in films like The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted and the fucked-up bitch in films like Rachel Getting Married and Havoc. The former was easily believable, while the latter was not (even though I enjoyed the titty shots).

Catwoman is a tough character to play well; she is a mix of diabolical evil witch and flirty sexy bitch. Many have played the role (Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and the original Selina Kyle), but only with moderate success. Will Hathaway be able to conjure up her inner kitty with claws? And do it in a way that gets the hairs on the back of our necks to stand up while simultaneously increasing the blood flow to our groins?

Hathaway is a good actress but has always had trouble shaking off her good-girl reputation that began her film career. If I was to guess, I think she will have difficulty. But if she can pull it off, then she might finally throw off the princess persona that she tried getting rid off with the roles of Allison Lang and Kym but failed. Either way, seeing Nolan’s third installment should be as enjoyable as the previous two.

She May Not Be a "Sexy Russian Spy," But Plano's Anna Fermanova Pleads Guilty Anyhow

When last we heard from Anna Fermanova, the would-be cosmetologist from Plano was dishing out celeb gossip on CW33 while awaiting yet another court appearance in New York on federal weapons-smuggling charges after feds accused her of rocketing to Russia high-priced rifle scopes on the U.S. Munitions List. Her TV debut was four months ago -- plenty of time, it turns out, for the "sexy Russian" (who was no spy, she insisted repeatedly) to ponder the what-ifs should she go to trial over those scopes tucked in her Uggs. Hence, her attorney Scott Palmer tells Unfair Park this evening, the reason she went to Manhattan today to plead guilty to a single count of violating the U.S. Arms Export Control Act.

Palmer acknowledges: Had the 24-year-old been found guilty at trial, she very well could have faced four to 10 years in prison. But he's hoping the guilty plea puts "her in the best possible light in front of the judge," who Palmer hopes gives her probation when she's sentenced in the spring.

"I don't really want her to go to prison, nor does she," Palmer says. "We thought about going to trial. There were some very narrow issues -- like whether they could prove she knew whether the scopes were manufactured to military specifications. The question is: Did she willfully violate the law, knowingly and intentionally? And we looked at that pretty hard. She didn't want to chance it. She wanted to accept responsibility for her actions and go out quietly."

Fermanova's still living in Plano, still studying to be a cosmetologist. Her TV gig's over, though, having lasted all of five appearances. Palmer says she's due back in court April 29, when she's due to be sentenced. (Messages were left for Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth DuCharme in Brooklyn.)

Jimmy Buffett is 'stable' after stage fall, hospital says

Sydney, Australia (CNN) -- Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett fell off a concert stage during a show in Sydney, Australia Wednesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Doctors at Sydney's St. Vincent's Hospital listed Buffett, 64, in stable condition four hours after he was admitted, spokeswoman Denise Coughlan said.

She would not give details about his injuries.

Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper quotes witnesses saying Buffett fell from the Hordern Pavilion stage after singing "It's been a lovely cruise, I'm sorry it's ended."

Jack Black nominated for 'worst actor' award

Jack Black has been nominated for a Razzie Award for 'Worst Actor' in the traditional pre-Oscar nomination night awards that recognise all that is bad in films.

The nominations for Golden Raspberry Awards - or Razzie for short - were announced on Sunday night, with Jennifer Aniston nominated for Worst Actress for her role in The Bounty Hunter and The Switch.

The blockbuster supernatural tale "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and the action fantasy "The Last Airbender" tied for the most nominations with nine each, including worst picture.

The Razzies lineup was announced a day before Oscar nominations come out. Razzie winners, chosen by the group's 600 voters, will be announced on 26th February, the night before the Oscars.

The awards, founded by American copywriter and publicist John J.B. Wilson in 1981, precede the corresponding Academy Awards ceremony by one day. The term raspberry in the name is used in its irreverent sense, as in "blowing a raspberry". The awards themselves typically cost around £5 each, in the form of a "golfball-sized raspberry" which sits atop a Super 8 mm film reel, the whole of which is spray-painted gold.

Is is really possible to be blown away by a superhero movie with a budget of only $300? Michael Aston, who created, directed and produced the slightly NSFW mini-movie Lazy Teenage Superheroes, just proved that the answer is "Yes!"

His project, sort of a cross between Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Heroes, makes us wonder what he could do if a couple of zeroes were added to that budget.

Today, Waner Bros. announced that Anne Hathaway will be playing the role of Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Though it went unsaid in the press release, it’s a safe bet to assume that Kyle — who, in every other iteration of Batman, becomes Catwoman — will transform into Batman’s arch nemesis in this version, too. Batman’s beginnings as live action started in a 1943 serial, but most of the villains were run of the mill thugs as opposed to the rouges gallery that Batman became known for in later years. Julie Newmar was the first actress to ever portray Catwoman on-screen, which she did for 12 episodes over the course of two seasons on the 1960s campy Adam West television series. She left before the third season to pursue film work and did not participate in the feature film that was shot after the first season due to prior commitments.

It’s one of the only times people actually sit down and watch the commercials as attentively as the regular programming. 'Social Network,' Bale, Portman Globe-trot toward Academy Awards

BEVERLY HILLS - With the Golden Globe Awards parceling its finest hardware tonight, Hollywood kicked off its trophy season while clearing the Oscar picture a little.

And it could be a good couple of months for social networking, toy stories and Christian Bale.

This weekend, The Social Network, a skewering drama about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, got an early start in the awards hunt as it picked up drama, director and screenplay Globes and best-picture honors Friday from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, a canny predictor of Academy Award nominees and winners.

Other big winners included Annette Bening, who won the comedic actress trophy for The Kids Are All Right, which also won best comedy. Natalie Portman needs to clear shelf space after winning the Globe and the BFCA's Critics' Choice award for her role as an obssessive dancer in Black Swan, which vaults her into an early lead for the Oscar statuette.

Another juggernaut emerging: Toy Story 3, which claimed the gold for best animated film, making it a heavy favorite when Oscar nominations are announced Jan. 25 and awards handed out Feb. 27.

Until then, brace for a boatload of back-slapping. Critics circles and Hollywood guilds still have honors to dole out, and studios are hoping their smaller movies find some traction.

Of course, the Globes have never much fretted the business side of Hollywood. It's all about the party. Which may explain the return of irreverent host Ricky Gervais, never shy about taking his colleagues to task.

"It's gonna be a night of partying and heavy drinking," Gervais told the audience, packed into the Beverly Hilton Hotel. "Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast."

Gervais, who hosted the show last year, joked on the red carpet that he was invited back because "they couldn't find anyone cheaper."

While Globe and Critics' Choice triumphs don't assure Oscar success, they can give considerable momentum. Aaron Sorkin took a prohibitive lead in the Oscar screenwriting race after a double win for his script of The Social Network, expected to be a multiple Oscar nominee. Colin Firth added to his collection Sunday with another win for playing King George VI in The King's Speech. Analysts almost unanimously expect him to pick up the best-actor Oscar.

BOND IS BACK! Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes Set For Nov. 9, 2012 Release Date

EXCLUSIVE: MGM is announcing that "BOND 23" is set to go into production in late 2011. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, together with Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, the Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., today announced that the 23rd James Bond film will have a worldwide release on November 9, 2012 -- just as Deadline last month reported it would. Daniel Craig will be returning as the legendary British secret agent, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. That script is being kept under wraps but the story begins after Quantum Of Solace leaves off. The reason for the 007 delay is this: Broccoli and Wilson had been in pre-production on Bond #23 for release in 2011 but then it took almost a year for MGM's future to sort itself out what with the failed auction sale of the studio, then the pre-packaged bankruptcy getting approval, and eventually Spyglass taking over studio filmmaking.



Meanwhile star Daniel Craig filled in the time with various film commitments which he had to finish. The actor began work on the Hollywood remake of the Swedish original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as soon as he completed shooting Cowboys and Aliens in a nifty bit of schedule coordination between two studios and James Bond rights holders Broccoli and Wilson.

• With everyone saying Nicki Minaj is the next Lady Gaga, she has some big shoes to fill in 2010 (and by big shoes, I don't mean the McQueen Armadillo shoes with the 10-inch heels). Gaining instant popularity by being featured on Kanye West's highly anticipated new album, Nicki has released her own album, Pink Friday, and has recently gained Platinum status. Will there be a 2nd album for 2011? I sure hope so!
• After a 2 year run on MTV's The Hills, Olivia Palermo is onto new ventures. She is frequently spotted in the front row of numerous shows at Fashion Week, she has created a line of necklaces in collaboration with Roberta Freymann, and you know what comes next...she's getting her own reality show. Geraldine Hoff Doyle, inspiration behind a famous wartime poster, dies at 86

Geraldine Hoff Doyle, a World War II factory worker whose bandana-wearing image in a wire-service photo is said to have been the model for the woman depicted in the 1942 "We Can Do It!" poster, has died. She was 86. The iconic wartime poster became an enduring symbol of women's power from the Rosie the Riveter era.

Doyle died of age-related causes Sunday at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, said her daughter Stephanie Gregg.

Doyle was a 17-year-old high school graduate when she took a job at the American Broach & Machine Co. in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1942, a time when millions of women across the country were going to work to replace men who had gone to war.

"She had just graduated, and some of the young men had left school to volunteer to fight," Gregg said. "A couple had been killed, and she felt she wanted to do something for the war effort."

Doyle was operating a metal-stamping machine when a United Press photographer took a picture of the tall, slender and glamorously beautiful brunet wearing a polka-dot bandana over her hair.

Her photo, according to an account on the Pop History Dig website, was seen by Pittsburgh artist J. Howard Miller, who was commissioned by the Westinghouse War Production Coordinating Committee to create a series of morale-building posters to inspire Westinghouse factory workers.

Miller's "We Can Do It!" poster portrays a woman in a red-and-white polka-dot bandana and a blue uniform, rolling up a sleeve over a flexed right bicep.

Gregg said her mother, who was not as muscular as the woman depicted in the poster, had no idea her photograph had been used as a model for Miller's poster until the mid-1980s.

"She was tickled to recognize that she was the inspiration for so many women," said her daughter.

Doyle, who was born July 31, 1924, in Inkster, Mich., actually worked in the factory only a couple of weeks; a cello player, she quit after learning that the woman she had replaced had injured her hand on the metal press, her daughter said.

She then got a job at a bookstore in Ann Arbor, where she soon met her future husband, Leo H. Doyle, who was in dental school. They were married in 1943 and had six children. Doyle also worked as the office manager at her husband's dental office until she was 75.

The "We Can Do It!" poster image has been reproduced frequently in recent decades on a variety of items, including on a U.S. postage stamp issued in 1992.

"You're not supposed to have too much pride, but I can't help to have some in that poster," Doyle told the Lansing State Journal in 2002 after she was invited to speak at the Michigan state Senate.

"It's just sad I didn't know it was me sooner," Doyle said. "Maybe it's a good thing. I couldn't have handled all the excitement then."

Doyle appeared at a number of poster signings and events at the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame over the years.

"She was a very gracious woman," said former executive director Gladys Beckwith.

The poster, Beckwith said, "represents Rosie the Riveter, a really strong woman who has taken on a non-traditional role and is happy in it and is contributing to the war effort. It's a very significant image, one that has endured."

Doyle's husband of 66 years died in February. A son, Gary, died in 1980.

In addition to her daughter Stephanie, Doyle is survived by her other daughters, Jacqueline Drewes, Deidre Doyle and Lauretta Doyle; her son, Brian Doyle; her sister, Virginia Watson; her brother, Clifford Hoff; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
